Greetings!!! Exciting News! Rick Thum is doing a day of Hammered Dulcimer workshops In Lake Odessa Michigan at Bob’s Barn, 1417 Johnson St., Lake Odessa, MI
He has crafted a workshop which describes many of the suggestions you sent to me. It will help beginners and is designed to teach you to play with syncopation, and many techniques that bring you beyond just playing the melody!!! Here is the description from Rick:
Rick:
I have a way of playing fiddle tunes and other songs that lets me know what notes to use as embellishments. You will learn this technique and how to use it in several different ways. You will also learn how to use scales and blind runs both in straight rhythm and syncopated. This is user friendly at all levels of playing ability. After learning these techniques we will learn a fiddle tune that you can try out your new skills on. This will be a fun day with lots of playing.
Class on technique will be in the morning 10am -12:30pm. Cost $25
Lunch will be potluck.!!! Please bring a dish to feed 25 or so. 12:30- 1:30pm
Class on learning a tune and applying the mornings technique 1:30-4pm Cost $25 (after learning the tune you will not be able to keep up if you did not attend the morning class)
